UNC Department of Medicine
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s largest academic department consisting of medical students, faculty and staff members fostering growth and education in the world of healthcare.
Strategy
I managed social media for the UNC Department of Medicine, with a focus on strengthening the department’s online presence, educating a broad audience, and celebrating the people behind the science. The goals were to humanize faculty and residents, translate complex research into digestible content, and drive traffic to the department’s website and YouTube channel.
How I helped achieve these goals:
Produced and shared faculty highlights to showcase the personal stories and impact of leading researchers and clinicians.
Broke down new study findings into accessible, engaging content tailored for social media audiences.
Provided live, on-site social coverage for the annual JARS White Coating Ceremony, spotlighting the next generation of physicians.
Strategically used Instagram and Facebook Stories with link-outs to drive traffic to the department website, contributing to over 1 million annual site visits.
Conducted and edited faculty interviews for YouTube video profiles, which were also embedded on the redesigned and reorganized faculty directory pages.
Maintained consistent branding and tone across platforms while aligning content with departmental goals in education, clinical care, and research.
